Shelagh Price Painting a LandscapeShelagh Price was born and spent her younger years in Rhodesia, Zimbabwe.

This is where she developed a love of rural farm life and open African landscapes.

1957 – 1960 Completed schooling in Johannesburg

1961 Received a distinction in art at Arundel, Salisbury

1962 – 1964 Qualified at the Natal Art School as a designer

1965 Employed as a designer in Harare

1966 – 1969 Employed as a designer in London and Paris

1969 – 1979 Employed as a designer in Johannesburg

1981 Started painting landscapes professionally using watercolours

1988 Relocated to Cape Town where she now has a studio in St. James overlooking the spectacular False Bay

1998 Branched out in painting with acrylics and mixed media where she was now able to pursue her love of Karoo landscapes, portraying its unique light and atmosphere in a more realistic way.

Having the advantage of living in Cape Town, Shelagh regularly visits the Karoo and surrounding areas where she spends much of her time, and more particularly the Klein Karoo.

She has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in the main centres of South Africa.

Her paintings have been reproduced for calendars, cards, wildlife magazines and her watercolour prints have been distributed both nationally and internationally.

She is listed in the Everard Reed Gallery manual of top South African artists.  Her paintings are displayed in top galleries across South Africa including Cape Town, Simonstown, Constantia, Hout Bay, Plettenburg Bay, Umhalnga Rocks, Stellenbosch, Hermanus and Johannesburg.

Numerous corporations have acquired her landscapes for boardrooms including First National Bank Head Office, SA Breweries, Coca Cola, and Pimlico Holdings.  She is also in many private collections, nationally and internationally.  She has travelled extensively around Europe, America, Canada and on numerous painting trips to Israel.
